What is Soy Wax?
Soy wax comes from American grown premium grade soybeans. It's a renewable resource and supports farmers. Soy is biodegradable, produces little or no soot, is non-toxic, has no carcinogens, and will not discolor your walls or furniture.
Soy wax is easily removed from fabric, carpet, glass and just about any other type of surface with soap and water.
Soy wax burns at a cooler temperature than paraffin. This cooler/slower burn lasts up to 50% longer than equivalent sized paraffin candles. The result is more candle enjoyment for your money.
Tips
and tricks To Enhance Your Candle Burning Experience.
Some you may already know, some you may not. They're all very useful:
The "first time" you light a candle, burn it until a pool of wax extends to the outside rim. This may take up to three hours but helps prevent a candle from tunneling down the center.
Burning your candle this way "sets the memory." Each time you re-light the candle it will "remember" to burn out to the rim.
"Trim the wick" to about one-quarter inch prior to subsequent lightings. After trimming and prior to lighting, remove any "fragrance mushrooms" or "wick debris" that has fallen into the candle. This helps to ensure a clean, smoke-free burn.
In the unlikely event that your candle smokes and you've already trimmed the wick to one-quarter inch, extinguish the flame. Trim the wick a bit more and the smoking should stop.
Here are some effective ways to extinguish a candle:
Align the forefinger between the flame and your mouth. Do not get your finger too close to the flame. Blowing gently at the flame and forefinger will cause the AIR to circle your finger and hit the flame from both sides rather than directly. This clever trick reduces wick particles from entering the wax and helps reduce smoking --TRY IT!
Gently pushing/tipping the wick into the wax is another way to extinguish the flame. This eliminates a smoking wick and primes it for the next burn. You can purchase wick dippers from The Flickering Igloo. After extinguishing the flame on your candle, remember to replace the lid to maintain your fragrance.
We strongly recommend the following steps for your
safety:
-Never leave lit candles unattended.
-Always place candles on sturdy,
non-flammable, appropriately sized holders, out of a child or pets reach.
-Always light candles in draft-free areas to prevent dripping and smoking. If drafts cannot be avoided, turn the candle 180 degrees every hour.
-Never burn a candle completely, or for longer than 4 hours. Dispose of it when it burns to within one inch of the base or holder.
- Containers candles can get hot. Please be careful when picking up jars or holding them while you put out your candles.
